Ratio of Hysteretic and Input Energy Spectra for Nonlinear Structures under Seismic Sequences

چکیده
In the last few years, several mainshock–aftershock sequences have demonstrated their effects on structures; especially after occurrence of an earthquake with high magnitude, number aftershocks tends to increase. For this reason, studies been oriented estimate influence structural response, most them in terms peak or residual displacement; however, energy plays important role for long-duration earthquakes. paper, bilinear SDOF systems different post-yielding stiffness are subjected seismic sequences, considering levels intensity aim compute constant-ductility spectra input (EI), hysteretic (EH) and ratio between (EH/EI). The results suggest that although demands tend increase as aftershock increases, it is observed very similar selected levels; hence, analytical equations predict proposed. can be used toward earthquake-resistant energy-based design buildings.

Comparison of Seismic Input Energy Based on the Characteristics of Structural Hysteretic Behavior
The variation of earthquake input energy with characteristics of various structural systems, particularly in hysteretic states, has not been studied to such extent that creates enough con-fidence for proposing energy-based design criteria. In this paper, at first, based on a somehow new insight into the concept of earthquake input energy, two concepts of ‘Received Energy’ (ERec) and ‘Returned E...
متن کاملRobust control of hysteretic base-isolated structures under seismic disturbances
The main objective of applying robust active control to base-isolated structures is to protect them in the event of an earthquake. Taking advantage of discontinuous control theory, a static discontinuous active control is developed using as a feedback only the measure of the velocity at the base. Moreover, due to that in many engineering applications, accelerometers are the only devices that pr...

Natural hazards such as earthquakes have threatened the life of human beings during the history. As a consequence, the vibration mitigation of structures has caught great importance. Activecontrol of structures is one of the rapidly emerging areas in the concept of structural control. Thispaper presents a control method to deal with this subject when the dynamics of the structure ishysteretic an...

متن کاملNew Lateral Force Distribution for Seismic Design of Structures Based on Seismic Demand Ratio
The design of earthquake-resistant buildings starts with defining the maximum lateral earthquake forces or their resultant. The amount of these forces depends on various factors, including coefficient of system behavior which depends on overstrength and its ductility. In this study, a method is presented for designing an earthquake-resistant system in which the distribution of lateral forces is...
